on the go go go

So while I was undergoing treatment my dear husband put off all of his travel for work. Now that my treatment is over, his travel has resumed with vengence. It seems every time I check email there is a note from him on some upcoming trip and travel dates. I have kindly asked him to stop sending home emails that include the phrase "wmd responder training" (he works in admin for a department of Homeland Security). It just doesn't help me sleep tight at night.

The kids are constantly asking when dad is coming home. I'm never quite sure if this is because I've been so rotten to them (I do mandate a very early bedtime so I can get a break), or they truly miss their dad. Nevertheless, we greeted Greg at the airport this weekend as he got to stay home with us for a couple of days before departing again. I was lucky enough to come down with a cold while he was here and he got to step in as the primary caregiver for a few hours here and there while I conked out. I admit, I always find it a bit of justice when he has to deal with all the kids on his own (even for a few hours) to get a taste of my daily life. It's amazing how much trouble four small kids can cause in so little time. It always makes him so much more appreciative of all I do.

I am hoping I will be off to the Quad-Cities later this week to visit my folks, assuming I can kick this cold. I have to say, I don't remember colds tearing me down quite so hard before, and I guess it would be probably safe to say the chemo has definitely weakened me. Hopefully it is just a temporary set back. I'll have my three-month check-up and scan with my onc when I get back, so going home will be a good distraction this week. =)
